Angry Birds invades CNY ...

... on ang pow packets, no less. I've seen them turn up in lots of places but gate crashing CNY is kinda pushing it. Real cute ang pow packets though.

Flipping the Cedric

Yesterday was a landmark day for the boy. He managed to flip himself upright for the first time.

Here, his sister is celebrating with him but what's notable is the fact that she is wearing his shirt. He's six months old and she's 5 years older so even though the shirt is a little short, she is still slim enough for the shirt to fit.

The Song that Didn't get Played

Originally this was slated to be played as the entrance song at our wedding reception. However, my aunt said that it's style wasn't romantic enough for a wedding. I agreed, and got to play the song that I really wanted - Buddy Holly's True Love Ways. Nevertheless, that shouldn't detract from the fact that Etta James gave a splendid performance with this song :



Etta James passed away some two weeks ago aged 73 but singers do tend to leave a legacy of songs behind - fortunately for us.

A little point to pique your interest. Quite a number of people who professed to belong to the top left corner admitted that they changed the toilet roll's position in OTHER PEOPLE'S house. A touch of OCD perhaps ?

Wherever I Lay My Hat

From the first album I ever bought - back when cassette tapes were the main medium of music. I bought Paul Young's 'No Parlez' album primarily for this song. I mean, the rest of the album was pretty good too but this song was killer.

Paul Young's musical career can't hold a candle to what Marvin Gaye produced but I prefer Young's version of this song to Marvin Gaye's original (found here).

the CNY break

Just got back from a week in Bintulu, Sarawak where the boy experienced his first plane flight. Slept through it like a baby, he did.

And even though the routine doesn't change, I'm still not tired of watching the view outside change from tarmac to ground to clouds and sky. I'm not sure if I'll ever get tired of that.

While in Bintulu, Cedric got to make his official debut to the rest of the family and was reintroduced to his maternal grandmother, pictured here below.


He had a ball, being the only baby around, getting entertained and being carried from pillar to post. Feel the Love, boy.

The family of rats would be there too - or at least, Shiny White, the small white one - but she told me that it would freak her mom out.
