ESPN NEWS

And in other news, the NBA, fearful of the damage an H1N1 flu outbreak could wreak on the league, has passed down an anti-handshake directive. Players and coaches have been asked to greet each other via more sanitary means of contact, like fist pounding, or maybe chest bumps.

In case you're wondering what a chest bump is, it happens at 0:13 of this clip

Now, isn't this something that the Ministry of Health should consider issuing a directive or statement on ?

Now that Rasheed Wallace is with the Celtics, I'm expecting a season's worth of memorable quotes. His first contribution ?

Another Top 1

Catriona's request for a video nowadays don't center around baby horses any more. Instead, the request is for another type of baby .... human, this time.

Her mother uploaded this a few months ago and she's only just found it.

Mirai e

While driving back to Penang last week, Catriona piped up with a "I want that song". Said song being Kiroro's "Mirai e". You can listen to the song here.

I didn't think much of it at that time but we ended up listening to that song repeatedly for the three days that we were in Penang i.e. whenever we were in the car. And by the time we were driving back to KL, this is what we got :

1 week later, that song is still in Catriona's Top 1.

Vblog of Catriona

One of the main mission for us in Penang during last trip is to bring Catriona to beach. The major disadvantage of staying in KL, besides having jam most of the time is the lack of beach. So she has no idea about what is sea and beach. The father felt the needs to introduce her one, top by the fact
that we ourselves just went to a good one, so he felt kind of sorry for her.

After some struggles; rain, not sure of the location, and lack of clean beach in Penang. We managed to find one which is acceptable. So here is the vblog. Well the main reason we got this video cam is to documented her anyway.
First stop, "beach" at Gurney drive. Not sure it should be called beach since it is all cover by rocks. Anyway, for kids they still enjoying themselves. Just little problem with ants and sand.

Second stop is a much better one, and here is the result.

The result of this trip, she can clearly identify sea, beach, sand and wave.

a Principle, a Philosophy ?

"Imagination is more important than knowledge" he said. "Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

It's difficult to argue against someone whose Theory of Relativity was borne out of daydreaming about riding on a sunbeam through the universe. And anyway, who am I to argue against Einstein ?

I first heard this quote back in my teens and for some reason it stuck in my mind. Not at the forefront, mind, just at the back. But every once in a while, it emerges. Like when I read Ho Kwon Ping's "In Praise of Daydreaming".

Derby win

It was a roller coaster of emotions as United kept on taking the lead in their derby win against Manchester City..... and then kept on giving it away.

And SAF can say that his signing of Michael Owen has been justified with this winning goal against City.

And the thoughts running through my mind at the final whistle ?

* Shay Given made a case for being the best player in the game even though he let in four goals.

* How long can SAF keep his faith in Ben Foster when he's making a major blunder every 3 games ?

* Is Ferdinand back to making silly mistakes because of his arrogance ?

* Mark Hughes needs to make a decision about Micah Richards. He's a teriffic athele but he has a tendency to switch off in defence. Not a very good trait in a defender.

Notice a trend here ? As exciting as the game was, the defending left a lot to be desired.

And the final thought ?
Where in the world did the referee find 6 minutes from for injury time ?

One final statement. My Liverpool friends must be gutted. :-)

Doonsebury

You've got to understand Doonesbury to appreciate it. It's rarely laught out loud funny but it's my favourite comic. Still, there are the occasional exceptions.

The Shot

Sometimes, you just have to hold up your hands and acknowledge genius.

Roger Federer : "It was the greatest shot I ever hit in my life."

His opponent, Novak Djokovic : "You just say, 'Well done'. What can you do ?"

Cool fact 1 : Federer actually practices this shot.
Cool fact 2 : It's never worked before.
Cool fact 3 : It's such an incredible shot, all his future opponents will be watching out for it.

Weekend Getaway

Pangkor Laut Resort has this cheap, off-season package for Malaysians which we took advantage of last weekend. And really, it's a pretty decent deal if you're into sun, surf & sand. And since there was nothing else available which didn't cost an arm and a leg (speaking as a middle class Malaysian), one had better be into sun, surf & sand to enjoy the place.

Being a 5-star resort that lived up to it's name, service and facilities were stellar. And since 3 meals a day were covered in the package, there really were no hidden costs involved.

Lovely place which I would recommend for a short stay since staying longer could mean that one is sunburnt to a crisp. We left Catriona with her nanny for this trip so that we could both get away.
